Following the bachelor, our Master in Physiotherapy is your chance to continue towards your goal. Here you will expand your clinical and scientific knowledge in various areas of physiotherapy and develop a self-reflective practice in the sense of clinical reasoning. After completing your master’s degree you will have the necessary qualifications to become a licensed physiotherapist.

Attain a professional physiotherapy licence

To be able to practise physiotherapy, you need a professional licence. You will receive your professional licence from the country in which you have acquired your qualification. In your case, as a student at LUNEX this means: Luxembourg. Your qualification can subsequently be validated in other countries. The prerequisites for the professional licence or validation may vary according to country.

Luxembourg

From 5 November 2021 onwards, a Master in Physiotherapy and a university education with 300 ECTS and 1125 hours of clinical placement in this area will be required to attain a professional licence as a physiotherapist. By graduating from LUNEX University with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in physiotherapy, you will have fulfilled all the prerequisites to apply for a professional licence from the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg.

Other EU countries

As a licensed physiotherapist in Luxembourg, you can apply for professional recognition in other EU member states. The most straightforward method of recognition is electronically via the European Professional Card.

Outside the EU

Depending on the country’s respective regulations, your professional physiotherapist licence can also be recognised in countries outside of the EU. In some cases, it may be necessary to take an assessment test, present proof of your language skills or even attain a post-qualification.

Study the Human Movement System

As a physiotherapist, you will help individuals and populations to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout the lifespan. Extensive knowledge of the functioning of the human body and excellent communication skills are essential for your work. In the bachelor’s programme you will critically examine physiotherapeutic therapy and examination methods and learn how to select and apply them in a targeted and patient-oriented way.

Benefit from practical and research-oriented study

We prepare you to practice physiotherapy scientifically based on the latest evidence-based methods. During your studies, you will benefit from the experience and expertise of our unique and international team of lecturers. Many of our lecturers and professors work in research and support their teaching with their up to date scientific knowledge. Practical skills are also particularly important in physiotherapy. Practical exercises are therefore an important part of your studies. You will learn to understand bodily functions and complex movement sequences and to carry out therapeutic measures independently and purposefully. In our movement laboratory, we also instruct you in various measurement and analysis methods.

Your training plan: What you can expect in the Bachelor in Physiotherapy

During the bachelor’s degree programme, you will acquire the theoretical and practical basics for the physiotherapy profession. This includes sound knowledge of the structure and functions of the human musculoskeletal, cardio-respiratory and nervous systems and skills in dealing with patients. You will learn to practice physiotherapeutic examination and treatment methods in a patient-oriented manner and to reflect and justify your actions scientifically.

Bones, muscles, joints and more – as a prospective physiotherapist you will deal intensively with all the aspects of the human movement system. At the beginning of your studies we will give you a basic understanding of the structure and functions of the human body, both in a healthy and diseased state. You will acquire extensive knowledge in the fields of anatomy, physiology and pathology.

The course will also cover basic aspects of motor control and motor learning, as well as assessment and treatment techniques. Building on this, you will learn to apply scientifically sound treatment methods in a targeted manner. We attach great importance to the teaching of evidence-based practice. You will learn to analyse scientific data and assess their quality and to apply evidence-based examination methods and measuring instruments for clinical practice and research.

Active learning: Application and practice

You put your theoretical knowledge into practice right from the start. In our modern equipped practice rooms and movement laboratories you practice treatment techniques, methods for muscle training and joint stabilisation and test different analysis systems and measuring methods. In addition, you will complete a total of three clinical internships (950 hours) during the bachelor, in health care facilities in Europe and outside Europe, in which you will further deepen your knowledge and skills. We cooperate with hospitals, rehabilitation centres and clinics that meet high international quality standards.
